which called for a National smergency Conference to be >
held at the Ralei Hotel, Washington, D.C., May 13. and
1h, 1939, listed frofessor ROBERT LYND as one of the
sponsors of the conference.
Confidential Informan of known reliability,
advised that. on December 4, 19 rofessor ROBERT
or Democratic Rights, Portland, Oregon, sent a written
protest to the City Council when the police arrested
HAROLDSSPRING, a_well known Communist. This protest was
written on the letterhead of the aforementioned organiza~ __
tion and gave the local #xecutive Committee of the orgeniza-
tion which included the name of ROBERT LYND. 00 058

Rights was cited as a Communist front by the Spe cial. .
