It was indicated that the Council had heen referred to as a Communist-front organization in previous reports of the HCUA. A list entitled "United Front for Herndon Grows," ich appeared in the October 1935 issue of "Labor Defender," page 9, set out the public offictals who signed a petition for the freedom of the Negro Conmuniat, Angelo Herndon.
