The President's letter stated the Arny was studying the problen. The "Peoples’ Voice" on 2-17-45 contained an article which quoted a "Letter to the Editor” written by Roy Wilkins. Wilkins took issue with the newspapers on tts interpretation of the President'a letter to the NAACP regarding the Arny's segregation policy. Wilkins regarded the President's letter as a “clever missive" but failing to offer any real hope for a change in Army policy.
