President Nizon and Roy Wilkins at the cloaing seasion of the
46th Annual Convention of the WAACP, According to the article
Wilkina'’ speech was sprinkled with sharp and bitter critictam
of the President and the Democrats and was almost diametrically
opposed to the position taken by Niron. It was noted that
Wilkins was more forthright tn hia approach to the tasues
discussed by Nizon. Wiikins accused both the Democrats and
the Adniniatration of deserting the fight for civil rights.

article entitled: "NAACP Hears President Praised and Censured,"
According to the article Vice President Nizon and Roy Wilkins
were the speakers at the concluding session of the NAACP
convention in Atlantic City, N.J. In his speech, Roy Wilkins
deplored the President's criticism of an antt segregation
rider on the arned forces reserve bill. Wilkins stated "We
who seek such amendments were accused of plactng our special
desires above the security of the nation.” Wilkins placed
the blame for the delay on the bill on the Southern Democratic
bloc and accused the Republican Party of playing "footste
