On April 3, 1968, Reverend R. H. Porter,
President of the National Association for the Advancement
of Colored People (NAACP), Meridian, Mississippi, advised ~
that the Meridian Chapter of the NAACP had invited
Roy Wilkins, Executive Director of the NAACP, to come
to Meridian, Mississippi, to speak to the local chapter.
He said that Wilkins had accepted this invitation and
would speak at the First Union Baptist Church, Meridian,
Mississippi, on May 5, 1968. He added that he does not
know of any speeches that Wilkins will make or iocations
he will visit. a4 .
