Seale stated the BPP will meet with Wilkins only
under these terms and to date, no answer has been received .

separated from the Black community. He commented that if
Wilkins was really concerned, he would have accepted a public

The Community Relations Unit, of the San Francisco,
California Police Department, which has been under fire in
the past months from minority leaders, has seen the previous
leader of the Unit retire and a Negro patrolman appointed to
head the Unit.
The new head of the Unit has been presented with a
new plan of action. The plan was drafted by a member of
the Mayor's Crime Committee and calls for sweeping changes
and broad community involvement.
Emphasis of the new plan is for the police department
to go to the people rather than wait for the people come
