issue of the "NY Post" reviewed events of the Pilgrimage for Prayer
which was held in Washington, DC, on 5/17/57. The article related
that Sammy Davis, Jr., Harry Belafonte and film star Sidney Poitier
departed NYC on a special freedom train to attend the ceremonies for
civil rights legislation. :
The article noted that the Barry Gray show was programmed
on WMCA at midnight every night.
