From 1934 through 1937 Hanson served as a teacher of English at the YMCA Commercial Collere, Peiping, and Central China College, Wuchang, both in China. Busbey, U» S. House cf Representatives, Washington, D. C., made a speech dealing with the activities and composition of the Culturel and ; Information Division of the Us &. State Departments He stated the activities of this division were "oonducted by a group of pro-Comunist fellow-travelers and f muddleheads; they filled the ether and tons of paper with a combination of material favorable to the Soviet Union and the Communists, or just plain twaddle." Among the personnel conducting the program of this divisicn he mentioned Haldore E- Hanson, Assistant Secretary of the Office of Information and Cultures According to Congressman Busbey, the employee by his writings indicated that he enjoyed the } complete confidence of the Chinese Communiste when he was in China, had been given official doouments by the Chinese Communists and safe conduct through their lines. In this same speech Hanson was identified with the Central Hopei Masa Movement which was stated to be a part of the official Communist plan.
