( t i held this afternoon because wa could have gotten a statenent up in time for my appearance there that could have nailed it then. As it is I stated that because of Senator Lodge's position in the matter it will have to go over under Monday which is likely to cause a lot of speculations and charges being made up and down the country as to what the mystery is ali about. ao I told Mr. Ford the thing that concerned me, and which I did not care to mention at the meeting this morning, was that Senator Hickenlooper was not presant and I was wondering if the agreements were binding as far as he Was ~~ concemed because I certainly did not feel that the summary which was read at the meeting should be made publio at any hearing. Mr. Ford stated that Senator. Hickenlooper was bound by them and that he, Ford, would see that the summary ~~ was not introduced.
