Indiana ia one athte where we are still proud of our great American heritage. . Gur motto fe still "In God We Trust,” And He who helped our forefathers make thie the createst nation on earth will not desert ua now in our struggle to preserve it, Todry we know that if we are going to be able to continue as Hoosiers, Arericancs and Republicans, we are in the fight of our lives, So great are the stakes, we have resolved the differences and riatakes of yesterday must remain buried in the dead past. We must move toward November unite’ in a comuon determination born of our deep love for Constitutional liberty and freedom, : Gf course, cur modern breed of self-eppointed seviours insists there is really no need for us to be concerned for the future ~- there is no need for this Convention -- there certainly ie no need for the Republican Party -+ indeed -« there 4a no longer any real need for ua even to try to keep our tradi-« tional American principles alive. Why? - Because, if we are to believe what we hear, George Washington, Thomas — Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and their contemporaries were political ignora- muses, They never were able to sit at the feet of Karl Marx and Lenin and never palled around with "Good Old Joe.” , Becauee they eay the Fair Deal shows up theese founding fathere ae nothing put backwoods politicians, who were just lucky enough to have lived in a nation that finally produced Harry-Super-' * Folks, just vhom does Harry really think be is kidding? Can you conceive of a more rattle-brained theory than Harry's that the / Fair Deal is alone respompible for our every blessing?
