by this Burean woder the provisions of Executive Order 9935 as an employee of .
the Departaent of State. By letter dated Octcber 16, 1948, Er. James E. Hatcher,
Chisf, Investigations Division, 0. 5. Civil Service Commission, was furnished |
copies ef reports reflecting the resulte of the investigation ef Jessup.
A photostatic copy ef the letter ef trensaittal is attached as Exhibit #s1L.
By letter dated October 7, 1948, aidressel to Fr. Sanuel D. Boykin,
Director, Office of Controls, Departamt of State, this Bureau requested the
State Department to conduct foreign investigation in eonnection with the
loyalty investigation ef Jessup. As e result of « commnication from the ~
Departaent of State dated Octoder 29, 1948, indicating the Departaent ef
State deened it inatvisable to confuct certain foreign interviews, by letter
dated Novesber 5, 1948, Mr. Boykin was notifie? that in view of the infornet ion
set forth in his letter of October 29, 1948, no further inquiry was being nade
in the absence ef a specific request.
By ligtte dated april 12, 1950, the Bonorable Seth ¥. Richardson
Chairnaan, Loyalty Review Board, 0. *§. Civil Service Comission, was elvis
that supplemental investigation was being conducted’ relative to Jessup, the
results of which would be furnished to the Civil Service Commission inaediately
upon completion.
