Ce My dear Senator: I have received your letter dated June 27, 1950 inquiring whether this Bureau has ezamined the 8&1 loyalty files which the members of the Tydings Committee have been scrutinizing anc whether such an examination by the FRI has disclosed that the files are complete and that nothing hae been removed therefrom. The Federal Bureau of Investigation has made no such eramtination and therefore is not tna positton to make any statement concerning the completeness or tn- completeness of the State Department files. For your information, the Federal Bureau of Investigation furnished ir, Ford, at hts request, a record of all loyolty material furntshed the State Department in the Gl cases referred to. For your further information, I am enclosing a copy of Mr. Ford's letter to Senator Tydings which I have secured frem the Attorney General.
