Lovalts Review Board has ad-
mitted giving information about
“the infiltration of communists
inta the government” to Sen,
Joseph TR. MeCarthy (R., Wis.},
and has resigned.
Miss Miriam de Haas was sus-
pended last Seplontber on suspicion
of “leaking” contidential inforima-
tion on the board's activities. The
Civil Service Commission said her
resignation, effective last Friday,
had been accepted.
The Sunday Times-Herald con.
tained an advertisement by Miss de
Haas in which she said she had piv-
en out information concerning con-
munist infiltration in the Govern-
ment and had “seen to it’ that Sen.
McCarthy gat it.
The ad, for which she paid $618,
said _she “did not know Sen. Me-
Carthy, he had no reason io know
the source of his information, and
he is of course unaware that I am
making this statement.”
Miss De Haas said she gave out
the information “as a fast desper-
ate expedient of alerting the citi-
zenry ... IT am peiad that JT was in
possession of information that
might help our country and crate.
