Dr, Martin Luther King was discussed and stated to the officers that he was not sorry about this and in fact, wished tha es in this country would be’killed. In view ofl intoxicated condition, © the officers took him into custody on Drunk charges and in- formed him of this decision, He then asked them to call former Alabama Governor George Wallace who would _see to it that he, would be released, officer | |recalled that appeared to be quite nervous and upset when . discussing the assassination of Senator Robert F, Kennedy. officer! a Tampa Police Department, was interviewed by Special Agents of the FBI on June 10, 1968, and furnisbal substantially the fame yecaiien as that provided by Officer[ _| Officer recalled that on arriving at the phone booth, the individual later determined to be was holding the receiver and staring into | a trance, [Jeaid he took the receiver hand and spoke into the telephone to attempt to determine with whom had been speaking. He said he be-~ lieved that a telephone company operator was on the line, but that the connection was extremely poor and that he was unable to understand her although he obtained the impression that she was a long-distance operator in Massachusetts. On June ll, 1968,[ sd Gentelco, Tampa, ad- vised a Special Agent of the_FBI that he had subsequently de- termined from local operator that at 6:05 PM, June 9, 1968, an individual calling from a pay phone in Tampa had attempted to reach the residence of Senator Ted Kennedy - at Hyannis Port, Massachusetts, but that. no one answered the phone, This individual then told the operator it was impéra- tive he speak with some member of the Kennedy family, if possible either Joseph Kennedy or Mrs, Jacqueline Kennedy, The operator determined these individuals have unlisted tele-~ phone numbers and therefore consulted with the chief operator at Hyannis Port to determine whether the call could be put to the Kennedy residence, Assistant chief operator at Hyannis Port, Massachusetts took the call and in- dicated that prior to placing it, the identity of the individual Jo bic b6 b7c
