This is to advise that Raymond Dunlap, U. S. Secret Service ( SSS)
Headquarters, Washington, D. C., today advised USSS is giving Senator Lb?
Kennedy protective service. er
Dunlap related Senator Kennedy made written request to Secretary
of the Treasury for this protection. As the Secretary did not have the ;
authority to give the Senator the desired protection, the matter was br ought
to the attention of the President who authorized the protection which went
into effect Friday, 9/8/72. At present a protection termination date has
not been set, voiced the opinion that the service would continue “7 \
protecting Kennedy until after the Presidential campaigns, - aA
