Threatening Letter to
United States Senator Edward M. Kennedy - Victim
On September 23, 1970, United States Secret Service,
Washington, D. C., made available various newspaper clippings
containing obscene comments and possible threats against the
victim. United States Secret Service at that time stated
they had.made a check of their name file and visual files
and believe this material may be identical to other material
of @ similar nature which has been submitted -by an as yet
unidentified individual.
The following agencies have been made aware of the
' receipt of this material:
United States Capitol Police, Washington, D. C.
The Intelligence Division of ‘the Metropolitan
Police Department, Washington, D. C.
Hyannis, Massachusetts, Police Department
The Intelligence Division of the ;
Boston, Massachusetts, Police Department

On October 5, 1970, this information was discussed
with Assistant United States Attormey Paul F. Ware, JYr.,
Boston, Massachusetts, who advised, in his opinion, the material.
did not contain a definite threat to the victim or any other
individual which would constitute a violation of the federal
statute.
