On December 17, 1971, U. S. Marshal seized
TORRIENTE's 150 £t. motor vessel at Fort Pierce, Florida
_ under ‘Title 18, Section 1709, U. S.. Code.
The Cuban exile community in Miami then severely
criticized TORRIENTE for having failed in his plan to
invade Cuba.
On April 12, 1974, at 8:15 p.m, TORRIENTE was
shot in the head while he was sitting in the living room
of his home. The shot was fired from outside the house.
Local police authorities conducted: a lorig, inten-
sive investigation of this murder, with negative results,
