Special Agent in Charge, Sperations »7°
and Logistics, United States Secret Service (U55S), 1800
G Street, Horthwest, Washington, D.c. Gipc), advised that he
was viding in the car following the Vice-president's Limousine,
One or two minutes befere the arrival of the limousine at
the Lausche Building, Faizrgromds, Columbus, Ohio, a group
of demonstrators began throwing miscellaneous objects, i.e.,
rocks, bottles, etcetera, at the limousine, He observed
four or five of these objects fly over the car and one which
appeared to be a rock struck the rear window. He was unable to
pick owt any individual from the crowd who threw the missile
and stated that any identification would have to have been
made by the local Police on the scene,
He felt the bulletproof glass prevented the
shattering of the window since the object appeared quite
heavy. The limousine is still en route to Japan but is due
back in WRC on or about May 18, 1972. At that time the USSS
Laboratory will replace the glass and conduct an examination
to determine what type of object atruck it, To the best of
his Imowledge photographs of the window were taken at
Columbus, Ohio, elther by the USSS or the Federal Bureau
of Investigation.
