(CPUSA), held on May 24, 1961. It was stated that the central purpose of "Preedomways" 4 is to develop a theory and positive criticism of currents in the Negro Movement, as well as to raise the level of understanding and discussion "taking place in Negro life today and to project a socialist and pro-Soviet orientation.
