"DAILY WORKER" ITEMS
The "Daily Worker," on 4/19/57, pe. 3, col. 3,
carried an article under the heading "Socialist
Groups Call May Day Rally." The article reported
that "A United May Day rally, representing a broad
cross section of New York socialist and progressive
opinion," was scheduled for Wednesday night, 5/1/57,
at Central Plaza Hall, New York City, according to ©
an announcement on the previous day by the Committee
For Socialist Unity, which group reportedly was
sponsoring the meeting. The article stated that
STANLEY LEVINSON, chairman of the March on Washington
movement formed in 1941, would speak at the rally
on the forthcoming Pilgrimage of Prayer.- It stated
further that the rally would "focus on ending the
blight of segregation in American life, particularly
in the South, where the issue of integration is "
approaching a climax." 7
Similar articles were carried in the "Daily
Worker" issues of 4/29/57, page 2, columns 1, 2 and 3,
and 4/30/57, page 2, columns 4 and 5, and in "The Worker"
(Sunday edition of the "Daily worker" )4/21/57,
page 16, colums 1 and 2.
The "Daily Worker" .dssue of 5/1/57, on page 4,
columns 2 and 3, published an item under the heading
"Correction," stating that the "Daily Worker" had

Prayer Pilgrimage Committee requesting the publication
of the following correction to an droneous report .
carried in several issues of the paper:
"It was eroneously reported in the Daily and Sunday
Worker that STANLEY LEVINSON, chairman of the Executive
Committee of the March on Washington Committee, would
