Congress and th the Decisian
In recent weeks, the Supreme Court has handed
down decisions which have provoked & thunder of
complaint from some congressmen and others,..:
+ We have shared the bafflement over some of
these decisions. As 8, long-timé member of the court,
‘Justice David J. Brewer, sald nearly 60 years ago: :
; “Tt is a-mistake to suppose that the Supreme
‘Court is either honored or helped by being spoken
‘of as beyond criticism ... True, many criticisms .
may be, like their authors, devoid of good taste, but |
-better all sorts of criticism than no criticism af all.” |

aims, to revise its authorizing law and its pro- '
cedures, even to change its name—that it may con- !
