A letter postmarked Selmer, Tenn., 2/20, P.M., 1974,
38375, addressed to Chief Justice, United Supreme Court,
Washington, D. C. 20510, marked personal was received in the
Chambers of the Chief Justice on 2/22/74 at 2/41 p.m. The
letter was dated 2/17/74 and is typewritten and unsigned. The
letter consists of 5 paragraphs and the 4th paragraph contains
the statement, “If the Hearst girl is killed or even molested
T ahatl male tha nensneocary anntante ma naw immaediatala
2 8esG24 TAS +0 GSCSSsaLly Cereal tis aia pay ~ammec.arves.y;
$6,000,000 to have 6,of your members killed."
The letter was examined by the FBI Laboratory. The
Laboratory advised the paper contained a watermark "Four Star
Bond, Southworth Company, USA, 25% cotton Tiber.” Also noted
was a mark below the first letter “t" in the word cotton which
appeared in the watermark. The significance of this mark is
not known but may be used fordating purposes, relating to the
