If he had, he certain wly would have furnished this nf ion to the Doemartrent. To the best of Sracial Agent knovledsea, Snecial Paant Nuqi Vvallet, nov deceased, the supervisory Agont in tha Satellicence Division who handled this civil action curing 1973, had no knowledge the FRI conducted break-ins aguinst SWP or YSA. On Arril 13, 1978, this matter was discussed with Steven J. Glassman, Assistant u. S. Attorney, Southern Diserict of tew Yor’, who hanties this civil action for the Covernment until April 39, 197¢€, vhen he resiqned from the U. &. Attorney's Office. Assistant 7. S. Attorney Glassman advised that during January, 1974, when he prepared the Covernmont's ansver, he was unaware of the fact that the PSI had conducted ‘break-ins acainst vclaintiffs. To the hest of his reeellcction he was first informed sometime subsequent to Tanuary, 1974, fevactly when, he dons not recall) hy TRI Neadauarters personnel that there probably had been FRI break-ins against SHP but that no records o: risted concerning such Lreak-ins,. Ho reouest vas made py tr. Glassman, however, to officially advise the . S. Sttorney, Soutnern District of Mew York, or the Menartment of this information. Thus, while the existence of these break-ins was not officiallv cravwn to Nx. Classman's attention in writing, this knowledge + 72g within his cognizanes. Mr. Glassman acded that in his opinion the Govornrank's denial of allogations in the conplaint concerning “burglaries” was sroner, for the Lllecality of this activity was yet to be authoritatively determined. ~
