Reference is made to your memorandum of August 19,
1975, captioned “Surreptitious Entries," in which you asked
for certain information concerning surreptitious entries
performed by Bureau personnel since January 1, 1966.
As you are aware, from time to time we have located
certain files and documents indicating surreptitious entry
activity not previously brought to your attention, and falling
within the scope of your inquiry. Recently, one section of
an FBI Headquarters (FBIHQ) file came to our attention which,
because it concerns the assignment of informant symbol numbere
and informant coverage, warranted review to determine whether
_gor not any of the numbers therein might rieova: beencameigmed
to entry activity. (x) HE-EIN IS UNCLASST FIED EXCEPT

The "Security Informant Program" file, 66-2542-3, in
maintained to account statistically for the informant coverage
in all field offices, and to show additions to, and deletions
from, informant programs in each office. The file consists
of monthly, quarterly and other periodic submissions from
each field division. There are two sections of this file:
the main file, and the "JUNE" file. (Xj) }
