ADDENDUM: GENERAL INVESTIGATIVE DIVISION (GID CRs /20/75 GID concurs with recommendation that arrangements be made for meeting with Mr. Buckley. a <->. is prepared to respond in essence as follows to Mr. Buckley's inquiries as they pertain to matters supervised by GID: (1) Prior to the installation of any microphones pursuant to a court authorization, only surveys utilizing information from legitimate sources are conducted. This would likely involve information from individuals knowledgeable of the spaces involved such as building managers, informants, etc. (2) Entries made for authorized microphone i installations are limited to the installation processes and , # are not for other examination or search. (3) Personnel of GID are unaware of any cases within its supervisory responsibility wherein microphone installations were made requiring an illegal entry.
