Stanley Pottinger dated 12/2/75 in connection with electronic surveillance installations, pursuant to Title III. The memorandum requests we furnish appropriate responses to the Intelligence/ Division in connection with items 20 - 23 of Pottinger's fi letter. In attached R. J. McCarthy to Mr. Cleveland i, memorandum dated 99731/75, the Special Investigative Divisiof/ , a (SID) advised that from January, 1966, up to that time, the a there had been six surreptitious entries conducted in connection with investigations handled by GID. All of a“ these entries were under authority of court order in accordance with Title III of the Omnibus Crime Control and Safe Streets Act of 1968, and were undertaken for the purpose of installing electronic devices for the interception of oral communications. In each instance, at the conclusion of the court-authorized period of interception, a second entry was made for the purpose of retrieving the electronic wp, Gevice. Since the 8/21/75 memorandum, one additional “= surreptitious entry was conducted in accordance with Title III “in Kansas City, Missouri, based on court order dated 10/23/75, with installation 10/23/75 and date of discontinuance 11/12/75. Renewal for this interception was granted by court order 11/26/75, interception commenced 11/26/75 and was discontinued 12/10/75.
