On July G, 1961, Mr. Kennedy held a conference of
attorneys in the Department's Organized Crime and Racketccri
Section as the concluding phase of an inquiry he had Leen
conducting on the activities of this Section. Assistant
Director Evans, who was present at this conference, w2s
asked by bir. Kennedy about “electronic devices,” similar to
those used in espionage cases, in the investigations of crgs

Mr, Evans made a general reply which conveyed the message
that he would discuss this matter with the Attorney General
