Miss ‘CALDWELL in ‘the , postscript: to her letter of
9/11/68, describes the enclosure which was written in’ 1960,
as a letter reflecting "that Russian scientists had perfected:
a terrible illness which destroys lung tissue, and they had >
'. developed this as a secret. biological weapon which--they. were +
-even then using on the West." This interpretation by Miss »
CALDWELL ofthe ambiguous phraseology of the enclosure is
subject to considerable question. Miss CALDWELL used this*
‘interpretation for’ the purpose of suggesting’ that her own:
husband may now be the victim of a Soviet ‘developed biological,
weapon, whereas on a previous occasion in.a letter written
to the FBI dated 5/31/68, she attributed her husband's critica
condition to an attack by thugs who attempted |
house in March, 1967.
It is also noted that in the postscript - ‘to. here i
letter of 9/11/68, Miss CALDWELL describes the enclosure’ flatly,
as "a letter written to me by a Russian medical scientist," -
whereas in the foreward she wrote in 1960 at the top of page.

physician-scientist" and that the. letter’ had: been | received
