Lle-Ll-7ah {Mount Clipping in Space Below) A federal fugitive charge was filed against accused murderer Theodore Bundy Thursday in Salt Lake City after reports were received he had escaped to Wyoming. “The charge of unlawful fig tt confinement was filed by Asst. Atty. James W. McConkie befor Magistrate Daniel Alsup. Se SE PG SS i SS The complaint says that Bundy, who | was convicted of aggravated kidnaping in Sait-Lake City and was in Aspen, Colo.. to face a first degree murder charge, “did move and travel in interstate commerce from’ Aspen to a point outside the State of Colorado.” “A police informant has said that Bundy was in Wyoming,” Mr. McConk- je said. “Apparently the Colorado authorities wouldn't issue an unlawful flivwk eons nr ight warrant so the FBI came to us here,"" he said. Melvon C. Jensen, an FBI agent, signed the complaint and notes that it is based on an investigation he conducted iand information provided by Salt ‘Lake County Sheriff's Detective Biii ‘Oefinger. Deputy Salt Lake County Atty. David E. Yocom said the information was based on a “report the Aspen police received that Bundy had been seen in Riverton, Wyo.” Mr. Yocom prose- cuted Bundy in Salt Lake City on the kidnaping charge. Bundy was committed to Utah State Prison June 30, 1976, to serve a 1-15 year sentence for the aggravated kidnaping of Carci DaRonch in November, 1974, from a Murray shopping mall. The unlawful flight charge will allow ‘the FBI to search for the former law student. . In other action, Bundy was charged in Salt Lake City Court with being a “fugitive from custedy."' Since he has fled from authorities in Colorado, he is no longer in Utah State Prison custody. The complaint was signed by Detec- tive Oefineger before City Judge Flovd TS MEIGS. Vas Wee wR 2 Ay ‘H.
