The judge allowed Bundy to act as his own counsel —_
after appointing defense attorneys John D. O’Connell
and Bruce C. Lubeck to assist. :

. court for not conducting a proper evaluation.

in tears and addressed both the judge and psychia-
trists in the court room. “I'll be a candidate for

done, for what the system’s done to me.’*
