As noted in the original communication in this case, DEBRA KENT, 17 year cld high school girl, disappeared after she had attended a play at a high school in Bountiful, Utah, with her parents. She left the play in order to take the family car from the parking lot and pick up her younger brother at a nearby bowling alley. Salt Lake City Division has been following this matter at a regular interval since the date this occurred, and has offered local agencies Bureau assistance where ever possible. ; On the evening of October 26, 1974, the body of MELISSA SMITH, another 17 year old girl living in Midvale, Utah, was found in a wooded area east of Salt Lake City. She had been sexually assaulted and murdered. A short time later, the body of a third 17 year old girl, LAURA AMIE, was found in a mountainous area south of Salt Lake City. She had been sexually assaulted and murdered in the same fashion as had MELISSA SMITH. .
