RACIAL MATTERS
- Kansas City, Missour1, Police Department,
inrormed on September 2, 1964, that possibly 40,000 persons
may crowd the Kansas City, Missouri, Municipal Stadium at
8:00PM, September 17, 1964, where the Beatles, a quartet
singing group on tour here from England, are to perform at
9:25PM under contract to Charles 0. Finléy, owner of the -
Kansas City Athletics (baseball club). EP 2c all
leave for Kansas City, Missouri, police officers has been
cancelled to enable assignment of 350 officers in and about
the stadium and about 100 officers elsewhere to cover the ——
Municipal Airport, Hotel Muehlebach, and other places, ~
respectively, arrival, sojourn and travel points and areas a
of the Beatles in Kansas City, Missouri. =
stated there has been no indication violence
“will occur that will involve racial aspects; however, since
the ball park (Municipal Stadium) is located in a Negro
residential neighborhood, the possibility of Negro involve-
ment in any spontaneous action is recognized and Police
Department plans cover this possibility.
