Lessard alleges he has "reliable reports” that instigators were communist " riot mongers." The article also states that Lessard has information that seven members of the notorious California motorcycle. band, the /He 11's Angels, had been in Mexico for "special training on how to start riots." Mayor Lessard supposedly was going to ask the FBI to investigate it. at f fo pere Peter R. Lessard, Mayor, Laconia, New Hampshire, issued @ preas statement on June 22, 1965, in which he claimed that the "Hells Angels" was so well prepared that they chained fire hydrants in the Weirs Beach area the day before the riot, sprayed gasoline over highways, were equiped with shotguns and chains, {t and passed out paper bills whose headlines screamed “kill a cop Saturday night." Lessard also questioneiin his statement how this group can be effective since 1950, meaning the "Hell's Angels" as ‘their crime record is so heavy and so well published.
