as vores cin say, these provisions reach any person and any action
“that inter: eres with the enjoyment of civil rights secured by the:
“Act. Thus, 42 U.S.C. §2000a-2 of Title II, is not limited to pro-
-hibiting @iscrimination or segregation by the owner or manager of
a place of public accommodation. The section provides:
"No person shall (a) withhold, deny, or attempt —
\ to withhold or deny, or deprive or attempt to
' deprive, any person of any right or privilege
‘ secured by section 2000a or 2000a-1 of this
title, or (b) intimicete, threaten, or coerce,
or attempt to intimicdece. threaten, or coerce
any person with the purpose of interfering with,
any tight or privilege secured by section
2000a or 2000a-1 of tnis title, or (c} punish
or attempt. to punish any person for exercising
or attempting to exercise zeny right or privi-
lege secured by section 2000a or 2000a-1 of
this title.”
And to enforce the law, Section 2000a-5 (a) allows the Attorney
General to sue “any person or grour of persons":
“Whenever the Attcrnay Generéi has reasonable

persons is engaged in = sa:cern or practice
of resistance to the 7211 enjoyment of any of a
the rights secured by this subchapter, and that
the pattern or practice is of such a nature
and is intended to dery the full exercise of
the rights herein describec, the Attorney
General may bring a civil ection requesting
such preventive reliez, including an applica-
tion for a permanent or tax>zorary injunction,
restraining order or other order against the
person or persons responsikbie for such pattern
or practice, as he deems necessary to insure
the full enjoyment of che rights herein de-
seribed." [Emphasis supplies. ] ‘
Section 20CQ0e-6 of Title VII, relecing tc equal employment oppor-
tunities, tracks the language of Séction 2000a-5(a).
This suit is net one to desegregate public facilities under
Title VII of the Act. However, Secvion 2000-b is relevant, since
it demonstrates again the bread Co.ycec-s Lonel objective of authorizing
