cases which arose in Oklahoma and involved the rights of
Negroes. He Said that together they have argued cases before

considers MARSEALL to be of outstanding ability in the legal
profession and ne believed him eminentir qualified for a high
position in that field.
With regarc to MARSHALL’s lioyaity to tiie Government
of the United States, tated he believed there wae not
Government. He said he had never known MARSHALL to belong to,
or associate with any Communist groups.
Stated that MARSHALL for many years has been a
member of ar Prince “Hall Masons of america, a fraternal
organization, and is a member of the Conference of Grand ilasters
of that orgenization. In a meeting of the Conference at Seattle,
Washington, in June, 1961, MARSHALL authored a resolution directé
to all members of the above organization, requesting them to
be continually alert for any evide of Communist attempts /
to infiltrate their organization said that Senator 7C
ROBERT S. KERR of Oklahoma had introduced a copy of the above
resolution into the Congressional Record.

responsible position in tbe Government.
