The files also disclozed that THURGOOD MARSHALL was a menber of the Executive Board of the National Lawyers Guild (NLG) as of December, 1949 and in 1948 an Associate Editor of the eee © S52} ild Review. aa was also indicated he was a speaker at a rally €6."¥rée. York, in 1947 which was sponsored by the Progressive Citizens of America (PCA) = Arts, Sciences and Professions Council. The Guide to Subversive Organizations and Publi- cations prepared and released by the House Committee on Un-American Activities contains the following information concerbing the IJA, NIG, and the Lawyers Guild Review. International Juridical Association 1. Cited as “a Commnist front and an offshoot of the International “Labor Defense." (Special Committee on Un-American Activities, House Report 1311 on the CIO Political Action Committee, March 29, 1944, p. 149.) 2.° Cited as an organization which "actively defended Commnists and consistently follaoved the Communist Party line.” (Committee on Un-American Activities, House Report 3123 on the National Lawyers Guild, September 21, 1950, originally released September 17, 1950, p. 12.) Rational Lawyers’ Guild 1. Cited as a Communist front. (Special Committee on Un-American Activities, House Report 1311 on the CIO Political Action Committee, March 39, 1944, p. 149.) 2. Cited as a Communist front which "is the forencst legal bulwark of the Commnist Party, its front organizations, and controlied unions" and which "since its inception bas: never failed to raliy to the legal defense of the Communist Party and individual menbers thereof, including known espionage agents.”
