decoded. The F3I Laboratory checked irs, @@/mee decoding of P /
this message end adutsed that it was substantially correct. The
Laboratory's decoding of the message ts being set forth below:

The New York Office was csked to interview .'rs. Si ¢
determine from what newspaper the clipping in question was ootcined,.
They were further instructed to contect this newspaper tn an effort
to ascertain the identity of the person whe sent in the coded message,
tn orcger that the person might be interviewed for information ‘a ncerning
the alleged receint of the coded message.
By letter dated September h, 19:7, the New York Office ,
advised that they had ascertained from Urs, G@H@MEEEEpeeict the coded TC
“message had appeared in "Newsday," the local newspaper of Nassau an
Suffolk County, Long Island, New York. The City Editor of this news- -
paper stated that the original had been signed only "Radio Ham" and -
knew of no way of cetermining the identity of the writer. It was tke
City Sditor's opinion that the code had been made up by some lcecl
"screwball" who had been affected by all of the newspaper publicity
that hac been given to stories concerning "fiying discs."
