NY 100-161445 announced plans to “strike” the three major presidential candidates on Election Day, November 5, 1968. DAVIS said the NMC eleqg%ton program included: 1.. A voters strike against HUMPHREY, NIXON, and WALLACE, 2. A National GI Week on November 1 to 5, 1968, to dramatize American support for the right of soldiers to return to civilian life. 3. An anti-war demonstratior&§ across the country where the major candidates would speak in the fall. ; ABBIE HOFFMAN also spoke briefly. He stated he arrived in Chicago by plane on September 17, 1968, and was unjustly arrested ty the Federal Governzent for carrying &@ concealed weapon, a knife, aboard an aircraft. He stated he uses the knife to clean his teeth. He also said he was met at the Chicago airport by twelve "pigs" ("pigs” is a term commonly used by the Yippies to describe policemen) and was arrested for failing to anpear in court in Chicago during the first week of September, 1968, as a result of his arrest during the DNC in Chicago. He stated he did not appear in Chicago for his scheduled court appearance because he has received numerous threats against his life. He added that he has been arrested 23 times but has never been convicted. He made the statement that “love is shooting a pig" and when asked by reporters if he meant by this Pwo statement to shoot a policeman, he said no and stated that a they were irritating policemen by calling them names like "commies".
