stmt ee te ett ae a ee mene a ee ee ee ere dhe mm em nee NY 100-161445 | LI f On May 6, 1971, SA rovided Chief AUSA, Southern District of New Yor Y) HAROLD BAER, Jr., Federal Court House, Foley Square, NYC, with a copy of the complaint and warrant which had been issued in Washington, DC. fx) HOFFMAN \ On May 6, 1971, the subject and his attorneys, = GERALD LEFCOURT and FREDERICK COHN, after conferring with Chief AUSA HAROLD BAER, Jr., appeared before United States Commissioner (USC), SDNY EARL N. BISHOPP, Federal Court House, Foley Square, NYC, and refused to waive & preliminary hearing.(w) A preliminary hearing was set for May 17, 1971, in the Federal Court House, Foley Square, NYC, and bond was set at $20,000.00. His bond restrictions are that he remain in the continental United States.() The USC released the subject until 4:30 PM, May 6, 1971, on his own recognizance at which time he was to reappear to produce ten percent of his bond of $20,000.00 or he would be remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal.(.) On May 6, 1971, USC BISHOPP advised tmt the subject had presented the required $2,000.00 in cash to the clerk of the United States District Court, SDNY, NYC, at 4:30 PM on that date. The subject signed his personal recognizance bond and aeparted. The March, 1969, issue of "Rights", self described as a publication of the National Emergency Civil Liberties Committee (NECIC) formerly known as the Emergency Civil Liberties Committee ECIC), on page 12, reported that on ebruary 1, (1969) the NECLC welcomed GERALD LEFC to its staff as Legislative Director.
