ABBOTT HOWARD HOFFMAN
In this connection, it should be recalled that
Roffman was a convicted defendant in the so-called
Conspiracy Seven Trial, Chicago, involving those defendants
earlier indicted for a violation of the Federal Anti-riot
Law, aS a result of their actions surrounding the August,
1968 Democratic National Convention, Chicago,
Bool Additionally, near the conclusion of that trial,
hee i Hofiman was cited by trial Judge Julius J. Hoffman for contempt
of court, as a result of his actions and statements in court
and was ordered incarcerated by Judge Hoffman on February 14,
— 1970, without bond,

uf On February 28, 1970, the United States Court
of Appeals, Chicagu, ordered Hoffman adnitted to bond, with the
a prevision that he advise the United States Marshal, Chicago,
of all travel outside the state of his residence (Kew York}
— and secure the permission of the Court of Appeals for all travel
