LYNCH of Federal District Court agreed to dismiss a suit filed by YIP which was to force the Park District to grant a permit for thousands of Yippies to come to the park during the convention. According to this article ABBIE HOFFMAN, age 29, of New York City, a Yippie spokesman, said the group requested the suit be dropped because "We have Lost faith in the Judicial System and the Park District has failed to give us an answer on the permit'’' HOFFMAN stated the Yippies and National Committee to End the War in Viet Nam demonstrators intended to use the park with or without & permit and that many Yippies have been expressing their opinions without the interference of the police.
