T ” During the period immediately preceding the 1968 Democratic National Convention, he was assigned to gather intelligence information on s“bversive or disruptive groups and individuals who were gathering in Chicago during this convention in Lincoln Park, Chicago, Illinois. His tour of duty during this period was from 2:00 a.m, to 2:00 p.m, from August 23, through August 30, 1968. While on duty in Lincoin Park, he frequently saw .an individual he identified from a photograph as ABBOTT HOFFMAN, beginning on August 23 or 24, 1968. During this period, HOFFMAN was primarily engaged in making statements to the press and organizing with groups of leaders of the demonstrators. He was likewise engaged in addressi smaller groups of demonstrators in Lincoln Park, telling them the plans for the day. On one occasion, he overheard HOFFMAN speaking to a group of individuals wherein he was referring to information in the newspapers concerning the makeup of the demonstrators arriving in Chicago.
