Subsequently, additional. information regarding him was furnished to Lieutenant Colonel by Liaison Representative Special Agent BACKGROUND ON HAYDEN: Hayden'g name is included on the Security-Index. He is a white male, born 12/ll/39 at Detroit, Michigan. .He received a A.B. degree from the University of Michigan in. 1961. He was one of the founders of the Students for a Democratic Society and was a former national president of 'this organization which is self-described as "an association of young .people .on the left which seeks to put forth a radical democratic program." He has been since l964 a leader of the "Newark Community Union Project," a community action program sponsored by the Students for a Democratic Society<in Newark, New Jersey. He has been active in civil rights movements both in Mississippi and Newark.
