N. 0. File 100-12519 for at least fifteen years. Cubject originally came to Lake arthur with a Seismograph crew sponsored by the SulL OIL CO PiY of Houston, Texas. The leader of this seismograph crew was Dr. 3y who now lives in Houston. Mule?. advised that the entire crew consisted of Germans whs had come fron Germany. Accordirg to lusz, the subject is still amployed by the SllL OIL cOPy at Houston, Texas and returns to Lake Arthur regularly to visit relatives of Arthur. Subject is married to a native of Iake Arthur, Louisians whose maiden name is MRGAREr RIerle. Subject's wife travels with him, who, at the present time, is doing exploration work in southwestern Iouisiana and Texas. JUnez remembered the subject told him that he was naturalized. more than ten years ago, either at Lke Charles or Opelousas, Louisisna. AC-- corling to nunez, subject went to Germany abut six or eight years ago with his wife for a visit. They remained in Germany approximatsly two months. Germany. One of his brothers was a comnander of a submarine in torld War I and later received employment in government service, and sometime this year has been taken back into the submarine service. Subject told Nunez that he. received this information regarding his brotner's recall from his mother who. is in Switzerland. Cpon subject's raturn from Germany he told lunez that. Geruany was very well prepared for war and really had never stopped preparing sincs World War I, and ne further stated that no country could defeat Germany at any time. 3ince the outbreak of the war, subject has told nuiz that HITLeR is the cause of all the trouble and not the German people who were not in sympathy with him. He made the statement to kunrz that he, personally, would like to kill HirleR. Nunez has observed that the subject comments favorably on American victories and has never expressed hope for a Gorman victory. Regarding subject's background, subject has told Nunz that ceived his first employment in a hotel restaurant in New York City. thile in New York he became interested in seismograph worik and joined a crew of German citizens in exploration work in southwestern Iouisiana. Subject has told NUkez that he intends to make his permanent home in Iake Arthur, Louisiana. He has never stated that he intended to return to Germany. Iulez did not know of any organizations the subiect belong to nor was he acouainted with any literature or correspondence the subjectreceived.. Mr. T. . BnctceaRD, Lake Arthur Pharmacy, has known the. subject for aoproximately fifteen years and stated the subject originally ExcussaRD was not acquainted with the subject's sympathies and general back- years ago for a visit.. Wr. FauL Galthe, crccer, advised that he was acauainted with the subject but not sufriciently to lnow the subject's sympathies or bsckground. - 2-
