Complaint or Allegation: Name of Subject(s) Unification Church of Sun Myung-Moon team leaders to whom had to answer to and work under. b6 b7C Address or Location of Suspect(s): Headquarters: CA 94541 Factory where was forced to work and sleep for several months: CA 94144 Date of Offense: Location of Offense.. California, Texas, Arizona, Utah, Korea. CITY IN WHICH OFFENSE OCCURRED: Description of Offense: NOTE: August, 2002. Victim became involved with the "Moonies"' in her native country, in She was brought to the U.S. and along with other recruited members, forced to travel around SW part of the U.S., selling trinkets. They were forbidden to eat or drink anything while selling: they were forbidden from taking bathroom breaks unless given permission. to do so by the team leaders. If it was felt that any breach in the rules had occurred, the team leaders were both physically and verbally abusive, screaming at them: sometimes hitting them, and depriving them of food and drink. They were fed only twice a day: once in the morning prior to going out to sell, and at night when they returned from a 12-14 hour workday. Victim became very ill but the leader for the West Coast refused to get her to a doctor. She was made to go to. Ito the factory owned by the Church where. the trinkets that they sold were made, and forced to work in this factory and to sleep there as well. She became sicker, so was sent to to be "cured." The method used consisted of surrounding the ill person. and beating them with the hand, while claiming the sick person was possessed by evil spirits that must be. beaten out. She was tortured in this way for about 60 days, and then sent back to the U.S. Besides. deprivation of food and sleep, the recruits' mail was taken and read; their every movement watched; they were forbidden any contact with anyone not with the Church. Victim was able to make contact with a. family in where she and others were sent for a big rally. They gave her the name and number of. another friend in She was told this person would help her.
