4.2.4.1.1.Professional Staff Acting Assignnent Awards
An employee may only be selected to act in a position that is one grade level above his or her
current grade, unless the employee has previously held a position one grade lower than the
position to be filled or has equivalent specialized experience prior to employment with the FB1.
If there is no employee at the appropriate grade level to act in the position that is of a higher
grade and an employee in a position of a lower grade is selected to act, an FD-1057, *Electronic
Communication." (EC) (Sentinel) must be submitted to the PAU unit chief (UC) for approval ot.
the acting assignment award.
A professional staff employee serving temporarily in a supervisory, CDC, ADC, or special
assistant position that is of a higher grade for more than 30 consecutive days in duration is
eligible to be nominated for an acting assignment award in an amount commensurate with the
duraton of the assignment.
A nonsupervisory employee selected to act as a supervisor at the same grade would not be
eligible for this award. For exanple, a GS- 14 intornation technology specialist (ITs) can be
assigned the role of an acting GS-14 supervisory ITs but would not be eligible for an acting
assignment award. In this scenario, the employee can be given a Special Act/Achievement
