A MEETING APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS PRIOR TO JUNE ELEVEN, LAST,
OF ALL THE INDIANS ON ALCATRAZ ISLAND, THEY DISCUSSED THE POSSIBILITY
OF SELLING COPPER FROM THE ISLAND TO SUPPORT THEMSELVES AND ALSO THE
POSSIBILITY THAT IF THEY DECIDED TO DO THIS, CHARGES MIGHT POSSIBLY
BE BROUGHT AGAINST THEM FOR THEFT OF GOVERNMENT PROPERTY. HE
ADVISED THEY DISCUSSED THIS AND THEN VOTED ON IT, AT WHICH TIME HE
VOTED YES, INDICATING HE WAS FOR SELLING THE COPPER BUT HE ADVISED
THEY DID NOT COMPLETE THE DISCUSSION AT THIS TIME AND IT WAS PUT OVER
TO A LATER MEETING. HE STATED SIXTY OR SEVENTY PEOPLE WERE PRESENT
ON THE ISLAND AT THE MEETING AT THAT TIME.
HE ADVISED THERE WAS A SUBSEQUENT MEETING AT WHICH HE WAS NOT
PRESENT, WHEREBY THEY AGREED COPPER TAKEN FROM THE ISLAND SHOULD
BE SOLD AT SAN FRANCISCO TO SUPPORT THE GROUP REMAINING ON ALCATRAZ.
