GALE On June 24, 1969, the Attorney General in conference with me stated that a problem had dereloped in connection with namely, who has by certain boasting and assocatons embarrassed the President. The Attorney General informed me was now employed with a concern. and that the Secret Service had been requested by Mr. John D. Ehrlichman, Counsel-to the President, to keep tab on. and what his activities. might be outside of his official duties with the concern that he is now associated with. 99 i. Mr. Mitchell told me that I told Mr. Mitchell that I seriously doubted this to be the fact, but that I would communicate promptly with our New Orleans Office and ascertain from the Special Agent in Charge whether there was any basis to it. In the presence of the Attorney General, I called Assistant Director Gale and. instructed him to call by long distance the Special Agent in Charge at New Orleans and make inquiry concerning this. Mr. Gale called me back and. advised that the New Orleans Office knew nothing of this and that no room had been arranged for at the airport for the use of or anyone else nor did the Bureau have such a room at the airport for general use.
