:CKGROUND:
In connection with the Director's aitendance at the Gridiron Club on
Ma.ch 20, 1965, the Director is to be seated between General Wallace Martin
Grecne, Jr., A srine Corps Commandant, and Roy Wilkins, Executive Director of
she Nationai Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). There

WALLACE MARTIN GREENE, JR.
Biographical Data:
General Greene, the 23rd Commandant of the U.S. Marine Corps,
Has been a Marine officer since 1930. He assumed his present duties and was pror
to his current rank on 1-1-64. Greene was born 12-27-07 at Waterbury, Vermont,
attended public schools in Burlington, Vermont, and spent a year at the University
Vermont before entering the United States Naval Academy where he graduated 6-5-
and received a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Marines. His assignments h.

He was commended for performance of duties during the Sino-Japant.
