1. In complience with FS Regulation 200-4, subject "Unidentified
ng Objects” dated 2 November 1948, in reference to letter, Neadquarters,
, subject: "Reporting of Information on ‘Flying Dises,'", dated
ebruary 1946, the lowing report is submitted.
2. An widentified flying object was seen over Fort “orth, Texas,
on 15 April 1949, at approximately 21080, by lst Lt Robert A. Francis,
who ealled it to the attention of Captain Stanley Borowski, Both
officers are assigned to the Carswell Plight Service Center, Cerswell
ir Poree Base, Fort Worth, Texas.
3. Subject officers had just returned from a local flight end
wore standing by their aircraft on the flight line. The weather at
tine object was sighted reported by Carswell Air Force Base clear
and visibility of eight miles, Wo photogrephe are eveilable, Object
was round end in the shape of a ball, very silver in color. It was
traveling at a tremendous rate of speed, estimated to be over 1000
miles per hour, altitude was very hard to judge and cannot be estimated
correctly; however, object seemed to be clearly visible. ~ Lieutenant
Francis saw the object appear on the horizon in the north nortiwest
direotion, it seemed to fly horizontally in the direction ef south
southeast. It did not appear to burn out, but suddenly disappeared.
Wo sound was heard, The exhaust trail seemed to bs +:«~oximately three
times the size of the object and also was silver in cvior. The exhaust
consisted of silver streaks and ster shaped figures. ie object definitely
did not appear to be e jet or meteor, Its epeed was far in oxcesD of
any jet speed witnessed by offieccrs. The entire sighti took place
in a matter of a few seconds. A check of the Carswell Flight Service
flight following racks sh no jet aircraft flying in this area st
time object was sighted,
